The Bioclean Dual Coated glass by Saint-Gobain Glass (www.saint-gobain-glass.com) is a dual-function glass, i.e. self-cleaning and with low-E or selective emissivity features, complying with the requirements of the Italian law no. 311 for the improvement of energy efficiency in buildings. As well as delivering perfect thermal insulation to homes, this glass reduces window cleaning drastically thanks to a special treatment on the external surface of the pane, where a special photo-reactive and hydrophilic coat of mineral material is applied that is able to eliminate dirt by exploiting the action of water and UV rays, while the internal surface of the glass has a low-E or selective emissivity coating depending on the application requirements. The advantages SGG Bioclean Dual Coated glass offers are numerous. Windows need to be cleaned less often and even remain unblemished after heavy rain. In the event of sunny weather, simply spraying the windows with water will allow their cleaning – an ideal feature for windows in inaccessible places like roofs or multi-storey buildings. The neutrality and cleanliness enhances the beauty of the glass; in addition, as far as the environment is concerned, using less water and detergent can only be a plus as well as reducing maintenance costs. Energy saving is also a factor: in winter the glass reduces heat dispersion by 67% while in the summer it filters out sunlight and reduces the heat entering the home by 40%
